Mary, Did You Know?

(The photo is by Mariusz Petelicki on Flickr)
Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas - If you get a chance go here and click on the video in the left hand column to listen to this moving song.

When Mary was told what the angels announced to the shepherds she "treasured all these things and pondered them in her heart." (Luke 2:18) Can you imagine? While everyone around her glorified and praised God for all they had seen, Mary pondered. This means she took things into her heart. Special thoughts, that only a mother can understand.

This Christmas take some time to meditate on the love of God and his precious gift.

If you don't get to listen to the song, enjoy reading the lyrics below.

Mary did you know that your baby boy will one day walk on water?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will save our sons and daughters?
Did you know that your baby boy has come to make you new?
This child that you've delivered, will soon deliver you.

Mary did you know that your baby boy will give sight to a blind man?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will calm a storm with his hand?
Did you know that your baby boy has walked where angels trod?
And when you kiss your little baby, you have kissed the face of God.

The blind will see, the deaf will hear and the dead will live again.
The lame will leap, the dumb will speak, the praises of the lamb.

Mary did you know that your baby boy is Lord of all creation?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will one day rule the nations?
Did you know that your baby boy is heaven's perfect Lamb?
This sleeping child you're holding is the great I am.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace

How peaceful will heaven be? Can we fathom the idea? In Philippians 4:7 it is written “And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

We cannot grasp Heavenly peace but we know it is not worldly peace. Worldly peace is outward circumstances, ability, talent, skill and the absence of trouble for a period of time. You may ask if we can’t understand it, how do we get it. Heavenly peace is the result of a personal relationship with Jesus.

To obtain and maintain Heavenly Peace, surrender to God because you believe His ways are best. After all, He IS the Creator of the universe and everything in it. If you can’t trust God, then who? Surrendering to God is not a burden. You don’t have to give up having fun. Think about it this Christmas and into the New Year.

Psalm 119:165
“Great peace have they who love your law, and nothing can make them stumble.”

You hear that? Nothing can make us stumble, stagger, trip, or fall, when we love Jesus.

Have a Heavenly Christmas.

The Whole World Wants Peace

It searches for it, begs for it, kills for it, prays for it. Some may even believe peace is an illusion. When was the world ever at peace? Hundreds of books have been written about peace. A famous title that many people will recognize is “War and Peace”. The title alone suggests you can’t have one without the other. However, I am talking about everlasting peace, something the world will never obtain as long as it continues on its current course.

Dr. Charles Stanley writes in his article “A Much-needed Gift of Peace” that many people in society today may not realize the emptiness they are experiencing as a lack of peace. For instance, words like “I am so lonely.” “If only my husband loved me more” can cause unrest within our inner spirit which can lead to restlessness which equals lack of peace. But we don’t stop there, do we? Society bombards us with questions like - If only you were thinner…dressed better…drove a Jaguar…lived in a nicer house…made more money…are like rubbing salt into an open wound. The list goes on and on.

As Stanley's title suggests, Peace is a much needed gift. Read the rest of Dr. Charles Stanley’s article here to discover how to have peace with God. Also Dr. Stanley’s web site In Touch has many resources, articles and devotions to search through.

There is only one way to receive true peace. Jesus said “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you, I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your heart be troubled and do not be afraid.” (Matthew 14:27)

The Tallest of the Smalls - Max Lucado

This is for any child who feels like they don't fit in. The most important person to fit in with is Jesus.
