Stress and God's Will

Searching for God's will can be a stressful experience. Many of us may feel we are going to miss God's will for our life. Enter stress. I thought I knew God's will for my life but it kept changing.  I have it, I don't have it. It's here, it's gone.  I asked everyone I knew, pastor, close friend, prayer group and yes I offered many prayers to God but no lightning bolt. Fighting off depression, I would return to the Word and read some more. Yet nothing would satisfy the yearning in my soul. I was convinced that I was out of God's favor for many reasons.

I have all the tools. I do Bible studies, I read devotionals each morning and Scriptures morning and night. I take two classes at church. I mean, no one is searching more diligently than I am. But God's will eludes me. Can you relate?

Today I opened my Journey Magazine and as I read the message, God's Spirit filled me. His arms wrapped around me and I could not move. All I could do was read the words on the page. A light bulb moment, courtesy of the Holy Spirit. I realized I have been looking for a map of God's will to follow and if I don't have a map then I surely will be off His path and He will get upset.

But God's will for everyone is to be in a close relationship with Him. Not to have a map. What do you do when you have a map? You focus on the map. Here are the exact words from the Journey article that have been seared on my heart. "He wants you and Him to go on the adventure of your life together. That's His will for your life." Thank you Lord Jesus.

Do not give up searching for your answers. You never know how God will answer. Just know He does!

Jeremiah 29:11 - For I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for calamity, to give you a future and a hope. (verse 13) You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.

Give some peace today,

Carma
